For my job shadow I went to a fire station, where I learned about the daily lives and what they do and say when on a call. - Describe a typical work day at this site.
Depending on if you're on the engine or the truck you are either overly busy or you're basically on "house-wife duty". So you're the one who goes to the store, cooks, and generally does all the work around the house. Of course this is one of the few double houses and in most placed there is only one house. - What are the business's general work policies (tardiness, absence, dress code, technology use, etc.)?
first theres a verbal talk, then a written, then a written and punishment, then absence, then fired (but it rarely gets passed written a with punishment). - What sort of tasks/activities are the people at this business participating in?
Each mourning they prepare their uniforms and get ready with the vehichle, then they either eat breakfast or go to the store to shop for lunch. They typically workout before or after lunch and complete any other chores, then they hang out until they get a call. - In what ways do you expect your high school classes and the skills you have learned to apply to this profession?
This job is basically physical education, mixed with common sense and being able to tell by the looks of a situation what will happen, so basically just gaining common sense. - What sort of credentials/degrees did your mentor need to have in order to gain this job?
two year degree, but more four year degree anymore, plus school in the fire academy. - What new insight did you gain about working in the professional world by shadowing your mentor?
different stations have different exact purposes. Like station one is bomb squad, and station forty's ladder repair. - Is this a career you are interested in pursuing? Why/why not?
No, I enjoy helping people, but i'm not good at listening to orders i disagree with and i am especially not durable enough to put myself through that bodily pain. - What would you like to keep in mind for Career Day 2016? (What would you have done differently this year? What do you want to make sure for next year?
